After watching “The Sing-Off” every week on NBC, I often have very vivid dreams of singing. I once sang a lot. I began singing when I was six years old, accompanying myself on guitar during my lessons. Then I started singing lessons and learned the ‘proper’ way to sing, learning arias and classical goodies, competing and winning contests in my early teens. Then I discovered musical theater in high school and acting, and even though I eventually worked behind the scenes in regional theaters around the US, I still sang in choirs like the La Jolla Renaissance Singers--made up of scientists from the Salk Institute.
